Chapter 2 System Messages and Recovery Procedures for the Cisco MDS 9000 Family Send documentation comments to [email protected] FSPF-4 Error Message FSPF-4-FC2_DOWN_INTF: Received FC2 packet on DOWN interface [chars] in VSAN [dec]. Explanation Fabric Shortest Path First (FSPF) received a FC2 packet on inactive interface in the VSAN shown in the error message. Recommended Action This message may be printed for the first FSPF packet when an interface is brought up. If the message is seen continuously, check if FSPF is disabled on one end for the interface or the VSAN. Otherwise, enter the show interface command to see if the interface is physically up only on one side. Also check if there is any error message printed for IPC_PROC_ERR. Introduced Cisco MDS SAN-OS Release 1.2(2a). Error Message FSPF-4-FC2_DOWN_VSAN: Received FC2 packet on inactive VSAN [dec]. Explanation Fabric Shortest Path First (FSPF) received a FC2 packet on the inactive VSAN. Recommended Action If this message is seen continuously, check if FSPF is disabled on the VSAN. Investigate whether the VSAN is active and a valid domain is assigned on the switch. Also check if the IPC_PROC_ERR message is printed in the message logs. Introduced Cisco MDS SAN-OS Release 1.2(2a). Error Message FSPF-4-ILLEGAL_FSM_EVENT: Illegal FSM event for state [chars] in interface [chars] in VSAN [dec]. Explanation An illegal protocol event has occurred for the Fabric Shortest Path First (FSPF) state machine. The old state is shown in the error message for the interface and VSAN. Recommended Action It is possible to get this message if a protocol packet gets dropped, but FSPF should recover and move back to FULL state. Enter show fspf interface to check the state of the interface. If it is stuck in a state other than full, provide the output the of debug fspf event and debug fspf fc pkt CLI commands for the interfaces involved to your customer support representative. Introduced Cisco MDS SAN-OS Release 1.2(2a). Error Message FSPF-4-LSR_DROPPED: [chars], Dropping LSR [dec] received on interface [chars] in VSAN [dec]. Explanation An LSR packet is dropped because of the reason shown in the error message. LSR belonged to the domain shown in the error message and was received on the interface and VSAN shown in the error message. Recommended Action Provide the reason given for dropping the LSR and the output the of debug fspf fc pkt CLI command. If the reason is checksum failure, investigate for possible packet corruption or truncation. You can alternatively use Fabric Manager and/or Device Manager instead of the command line method. Introduced Cisco MDS SAN-OS Release 1.2(2a). 2-118 Cisco MDS 9000 Family System Messages Reference OL-15956-01
