4 Printer maintenance 42 Print cartridge life expectancy When a Cartridge Out message appears on the control panel display due to the depletion of toner, the default setting allows the printer to continue printing until you replace the print cartridge, or until the printer receives an "end of drum life" message. When a Cartridge Out message appears due to the end of the drum life, the printer stops, and you cannot override the message or continue printing until you replace the drum. The printer stops to prevent potential damage to the printer. HP recommends that you place an order for a replacement print cartridge when you first receive a CARTRIDGE LOW alert. You may order a cartridge via the Internet Enabled Supplies Ordering feature. To do so, click on the printer icon on the bottom right of your screen, click on the icon of the printer you use, and click on the Order Supplies link on the status page. In a network environment, use the embedded Web server to order supplies online. Print cartridge information
