RTC battery Description RTC battery Spare part number 697917-001 Before removing the RTC battery, follow these steps: 1. Turn off the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer. 3. Disconnect all external devices from the computer. 4. Remove the battery (see Battery on page 42), and then remove the following components: a. Optical drive (see Optical drive on page 48) b. Service door (see Service door on page 43) c. Remove the WLAN module (see WLAN module on page 46) d. Remove the Memory module (see Memory module on page 44) e. Keyboard (see Keyboard on page 54) f. Top cover (see Top cover on page 59) g. Hard drive (see Hard drive on page 63) h. System board (see System board on page 71) Remove the RTC battery: 1. Turn the system board upside down, with the front toward you. 2. Use a flat-bladed, non-metallic tool (1) to release the RTC battery from the socket on the system board. Before removing the RTC battery, follow these steps:
1.
Turn off the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn
the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2.
Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer.
3.
Disconnect all external devices from the computer.
4.
Remove the battery (see

Remove the RTC battery:
1.
Turn the system board upside down, with the front toward you.
2.
Use a flat-bladed, non-metallic tool
(1)
to release the RTC battery from the socket on the
system board. The battery is spring loaded and will pop up.
