Restore Your Filesystems = Restore your user and group data files. 1. Restore the user data into /home directory. 2. If the data files were archived to a tape cartridge, extract the data by using the command cpio -icdv -I /dev/rct0 3. If the data is archived on another system on the network, use ftp or another file transfer program system to copy the data onto your UnixWare 7.1 system. 4. If the data will be transferred over the network, use copy it onto the UnixWare 7.1 system the command find . -depth -print -follow | cpio -ocvd > /tmp/name.cpio. (name identifies cpio archive) IMPORTANT: You must define the /tmp filesystem as a memfs filesystem if you want to use the UnixWare 7.1 Emergency Recovery Media Utility. See the section "Create Emergency Recovery Media" in the SCO UnixWare 7.1 Installation Guide. 5. Put in User Profile diskette. Transfer profile.acct to the UnixWare 7.1 server on which the accounts are to be created by using the command tar xv / profile.acct from the root directory. Migration Tip As long passwords are supported in different ways in SCO OpenServer and in UnixWare 7, there are two ways that you can create a user account from the profile depending on how you want to handle user accounts that have long passwords. • Truncate long passwords to 8 characters. Enter the following command: ap -r -f profile.acct usernames 0413-0799-A
