Trouble shooting Starting failure Check Starter pawls Fuel tank Sparking (no spark) MAINTENANCE Possible Cause Binding pawls Incorrect fuel type Spark plug contaminated or wet Spark plug gap incorrect. Spark plug Spark plug loose. Engine starts but does not keep running. Check Possible Cause Fuel tank Incorrect fuel type Carburetor Engine will not idle properly. Air filter Clogged air filter Fuel filter Clogged fuel filter Action Adjust or replace the pawls. Clean around the pawls. Contact a servicing dealer. Drain it and use correct fuel. Make sure that the spark plug is dry and clean. Clean the spark plug. Check that the electrode gap is correct. Make sure that the spark plug is fitted with a suppressor. Refer to technical data for correct electrode gap. Retighten the spark plug Possible action Drain it and use correct fuel. Contact your servicing dealer. Clean the air filter.
