Once the analysis is complete, the Optimization Steps window appears, as shown in Figure 5-17 on page 146. It includes three sections: Observations - problems identified Suggested Adapter Arrangement - adapter layout after recommended changes are made Recommended Actions - recommended changes In our case a performance problem was discovered. Note: You will note that the optimizer reports that both slots 3 and 6 contain boot devices. These are potential boot devices, not necessarily actual boot devices. IBM does not support booting from a Fibre Channel device. However, Active PCI Manager recognizes the QLogic adapter as a potential boot device. Active PCI Manager does not make recommendations that include moving bootable devices, since this may alter the order in which bootable devices are enumerated during startup, resulting in a system that will not boot from its intended boot device (or at all, if no other bootable devices exist).
