Using printer menus Parallel Menu Use the Parallel Menu to change printer settings affecting jobs sent to the printer through a parallel port. Std Parallel Menu selection PCL SmartSwitch Purpose Values Configures the printer so it automatically On* switches to PCL emulation when a print job received through the parallel port requires it, regardless of the default printer language Off PS SmartSwitch Configures the printer so it automatically On* switches to PostScript emulation when a print job received through the parallel port requires it, regardless of the default printer language Off NPA Mode Parallel Buffer Specifies whether the printer performs the special processing required for bidirectional communication, following the conventions defined in the Network Printing Alliance (NPA) Protocol Changing this menu item automatically resets the printer.
