Understanding the operator panel Menu item Purpose Values Parallel Mode 2 To determine whether the parallel port On* data is sampled on the leading or trailing edge of strobe. Off PCL To configure the printer so it On* SmartSwitch automatically switches to PCL emulation when a print job received through the parallel port requires it, regardless of the default printer language. Off PS To configure the printer so it On* SmartSwitch automatically switches to PostScript emulation when a print job received through the parallel port requires it, regardless of the default printer language. Off Protocol To specify the parallel interface protocol. Standard Fastbytes* Samples parallel port data on the leading edge of strobe. Samples parallel port data on the trailing edge of strobe. Printer examines data on the parallel interface and selects PCL emulation if the data indicates that is the required printer language. Printer does not examine the incoming data. The printer uses PostScript emulation to process the job if PS SmartSwitch is On, or uses the default printer language specified in the Setup Menu if PS SmartSwitch is Off.
