11 Chapter SGE2000/SGE2000P Gigabit Ethernet Switch Reference Guide Add SNMP Group Membership Page The Add SNMP Group Membership Page provides information for assigning SNMP access control privileges to SNMP groups. The Add SNMP Group Membership Page contains the following fields. • User Name - Provides a user-defined local user list. • Engine ID - Indicates either the local or remote SNMP entity to which the user is connected. Changing or removing the local SNMP Engine ID deletes the SNMPv3 User Database. - Local - Indicates that the user is connected to a local SNMP entity. - Remote - Indicates that the user is connected to a remote SNMP entity. If the Engine ID is defined, remote devices receive inform messages. • Group Name - Contains a list of user-defined SNMP groups. SNMP groups are defined in the SNMP Group Profile page. • Authentication Method- Indicates the Authentication method used. The possible field values are: - MD5 Key - Users are authenticated using the HMAC-MD5 algorithm. - SHA Key - Users are authenticated using the HMAC-SHA-96 authentication level. - MD5 Password - The HMAC-MD5-96 password is used for authentication. The user should enter a password. - SHA Password - Users are authenticated using the HMAC-SHA-96 authentication level. The user should enter a password. - No Authentication - No user authentication is used. • Password - Define the local user password. Local user passwords can contain up to 159 characters. • Authentication Key - Defines the HMAC-MD5-96 or HMAC-SHA-96 authentication level. The authentication and privacy keys are entered to define the authentication key. If only authentication is required, 16 bytes are defined.
