Menu functions • Check your e-mail settings with your network operator or e-mail service provider. You may receive the e-mail configuration settings as a configuration message. See Configuration settings service on page 11. You can also enter the settings manually. See Configuration on page 70. To activate the e-mail settings, select Menu > Messages > Message settings > E-mail messages. See E-mail settings on page 50. This application does not support keypad tones. Secure server connection The secure socket layer (SSL) improves the security of the connection to the e-mail account. To activate the function, select Menu > Messages > E-mail > Options > Extra settings > Secure (SSL) > On. Ensure that your e-mail account supports SSL, and that the correct server port is set for the server to send and retrieve e-mails. Write and send an e-mail You can write your e-mail message before connecting to the e-mail service, or connect to the service first, and then write and send your e-mail. 1. Select Menu > Messages > E-mail > Create e-mail. 2. Enter the recipient's e-mail address, and select OK. You can also select Edit, and enter the e-mail address. To search for the e-mail address in Contacts, select Edit > Options > Search. 3. Write a subject for the e-mail, and selectOK. If you selectOptions, you can select the message editor, add a new recipient, add a copy recipient, or a hidden copy recipient. To attach a file to the e-mail, select Options > Attach and a desired file from the Gallery. 4. Write the e-mail message. See Write text on page 25. The number of characters that you can enter is shown on the top right of the display. 5. To send the e-mail message immediately, select Send > Send now. 45
