Troubleshooting guide Unit display The unit's display lights and ≥Demo function is on. Press and hold [-DEMO] on the main unit to select "DEMO OFF". 9 changes when the unit is turned off. Consult your dealer if this is the case. ≥You inserted a disc the unit cannot play; insert one it can. ≥You inserted a blank disc. ≥You haven't inserted a disc; insert one. ≥You haven't inserted the disc correctly; insert it correctly. ≥Check and correct the speaker cord connections. If this does not fix the problem, there is a power supply problem. Consult the dealer. ≥Disc is dirty. Wipe it clean. ≥You inserted a DVD-R that has not been finalized. ≥Incorrect operation performed. Read the instructions and try again. ≥The remote control and main unit are using different codes. Change the code on the remote control. ≥Trouble may have occurred. The number following "H" or "F" depends on the status of the unit. Turn the unit off and then back to ON. Alternatively, turn the unit off, disconnect both AC power supply cords, and then reconnect them. ≥If the service numbers fail to clear, note the service number and contact a qualified service person. ≥There is no link between the main unit and the receiver. Check that the receiver is turned on. ≥Ensure that the digital transmitter is fully inserted into the slot of the main unit. ≥This is normal when you set VHS audio type to mono sound mode. ≥Re-initialize the main unit: While stopped and "DVD/CD" is the source, press and hold [∫] on the main unit and [S10] on the remote control until "Initialized" disappears from the television. Turn the unit off and on again. (Cleaning of the lens is generally not necessary although this depends on the operating environment.) Before moving the unit, ensure the disc trays are empty. Failure to do so will risk severely damaging the discs and the unit. Cleaning the video heads Dirt on the video heads can cause poor recording and play. To clean the heads, insert and eject a tape 5 to 10 times in succession. If the picture does not improve, use an optional head-cleaning cassette (part number NV-TCL30PT).
