Regardless whether you create your own designs or use motifs that are ready-made.. appliquéing adds a beautiful fashion trim to articles, such as wall hangings and table cloths, napkins and aprons, children's dress es and beachwear, cushions and many other things. Trace the design on the wrong side of the fabric. 1. Turn the stitch selector to the largest zigzag stitch in stitch range 9, place the appliqué on the right side of the material so that the design traced on its wrong side is covered completely. Then stitch it down. 2. Turn the stitch selector to a not-too-dense zigzag stitch in stitch range 5 and sew over the edges of the appliqué on the wrong side. 3. Undo the first zigzag seam (Fig. 1) and trim the excess material close to the seam on the right side (Fig. 3). 4. Turn the stitch selector to a dense zigzag stitch in stitch range 6 and sew over the raw edges of the appliqué again, To give the design a raised effect, satin-stitch over a filler cord. 37
