English DVD System Menu Options (continued) Video Setup Page (underlined options are the factory default settings) Black Level This feature is only applicable if you have set the 'TV TYPE' to 'NTSC' setting. It will help to improve the picture quality. { On } { Off } - Selects this to improve the color contrast and brighten the picture of NTSC discs - Disables the feature. Closed Caption Closed captions are hidden data in the video signal on some discs. (eg. sound effects such as "phone ringing" and "footsteps." It is invisible without a special decoder. Before you select this function, ensure that the disc contains closed captions information and your TV also has this function. { On } { Off } - Selects this to enable the closed captions feature. - Disables the feature. HDMI Setup It provides the picture settings to enhance the appearance and picture quality for disc playback. { Wide Screen Format } - Select a suitable screen display. This feature is available only if you have selected { TV Display - 16:9 Wide Screen. } { Superwide } Select this to display the 4:3 picture disc on the wide-screen TV with non-linear stretching (center position of the screen is stretched less than the side.) { 4:3 Pillar Box } Select this to display the 4:3 picture disc on the wide-screen TV without stretching. Black bars will be shown on both sides of the TV screen. { Off } No aspect ratio adjustment is made when this option is selected. Note: The { Wide Screen Format } feature will be disabled if your HDMI TV has been preset to { 480p } or { 576p } settings. 42
