Recording Use the LCD Monitor or Viewfinder to See What You Record You can watch what you are recording on the LCD monitor or in the viewfinder. When the LCD monitor is open more than approximately 45º, the viewfinder automatically turns off. Close the LCD monitor and the viewfinder automatically turns on. Use the LCD Monitor Recording Using the LCD Monitor OPEN Button Bright Control Monitor can open up to 90º. Open monitor 90º before rotating it. Cautions: Do not force the monitor to open farther than 90º. This will damage the monitor and/or the camcorder. Open the monitor 90º before rotating it up or down or reversing its direction. Make sure the monitor is not rotated or tilted before closing it. Do not touch the LCD monitor with your fingers. Use a soft cloth to clean the monitor. When carrying the camcorder with the shoulder strap, close and lock the monitor. This helps prevent possible damage to the monitor from bumping against your body as you move. 1. Press the OPEN button and open the LCD monitor. Make sure the monitor is open 90º. The viewfinder automatically turns off. 2 Rotate the monitor. • Tilt the monitor down to record from a high angle, such as over a crowd. • Tilt the monitor up to record from a low angle, such as when you are kneeling. • To enable both you and the person you're recording to see what's being recorded, rotate the LCD 22 monitor completely around so the front of the monitor faces the person you're recording. The viewfinder turns on automatically when you turn the monitor all the way around. 3. To adjust the brightness of the image on the monitor, turn the bright control. This does not affect the brightness of the recording you are making. 4. When you are finished, carefully rotate the monitor back into position and close and lock it into place. Note: When recording on a bright sunny day, the LCD monitor might be hard to see. Use the viewfinder.
