Chapter 1 Introduction What is BrightSign? BrightSign is a standalone digital sign or kiosk controller that plays content from standard Flash memory cards. You can use BrightSign with almost any standard or high-definition monitor or TV to play continuous video or image loops. On select BrightSign models, you can add a touch screen or input device, such as a button board or keyboard, for interactive presentations, and since BrightSign is compatible with standard media authoring software, you can choose the tools you use to create your content. Because BrightSign has no moving parts, it is durable, reliable, and an ideal replacement for a PC in information kiosks, tradeshows, retail displays, and other applications. And best of all, BrightSign enables you to maintain or improve the quality of your presentations. Using professional-quality decoding and scaling, BrightSign delivers crisp, clean, high-definition still images as well as 1920x1080 video from your high-definition MPEG sources. NOTE: BrightSign features vary by model. See Product Specifications for details on the features of your model. 1 • •
