Use the following chart as a guide for cookware material characteristics. COOKWARE CHARACTERISTICS Aluminum s Heats quickly and evenly. s Suitable for all types of cooking. s Medium or heavy thickness is best for most cooking tasks. Cast iron s Heats slowly and evenly. s Good for browning and frying. s Maintains heat for slow cooking. Ceramic or Ceramic glass s Follow manufacturer's instructions. s Heats slowly, but unevenly. s Ideal results on low to medium heat settings. Copper s Heats very quickly and evenly. Earthenware s Follow manufacturer's instructions. s Use on low heat settings. Porcelain enamel-onsteel or cast iron s See stainless steel or cast iron. Stainless steel s Heats quickly, but unevenly. s A core or base of aluminum or copper on stainless steel provides even heating. Timer Display When the oven is not in use, the display shows the time of day. When performing a timed cook function, the display will show either hours and minutes, or minutes and seconds. Style 1 - Electronic Oven Control When power is first supplied to the range, "PUSH"/"OFF" will flash in the display. Press OFF/CANCEL to unlock the cooktop lockout. A flashing time will then appear in the display. Press OFF/CANCEL to clear the flashing time, then set the clock. Style 2 - Electronic Oven Control When power is first supplied to the appliance, a flashing time will appear on the display. Press OFF/CANCEL to clear flashing time from the display. If flashing time appears, a power failure has occurred. Press OFF/CANCEL and reset the clock if needed. Start The Start pad begins any oven function and the kitchen timer. If the Start pad is not pressed within 5 seconds after pressing a function pad, the "START?" or "PUSH?" indicator light will flash as a reminder. On some models, "START?" will appear on the display. If the Start is not pressed within 1 minute after pressing a function pad, the oven display will return to the time of day mode and the programmed function will be canceled. Off/Cancel The Off/Cancel pad stops any function except the Clock, Timer and Control Lock. Clock On some models, this is a 12-hour clock that shows a.m. and p.m. 8
