CHANGING THE SACD MODE SETTINGS DETAILED SETTINGS This unit features independent playback circuits for DVD mode and SACD mode. DVD mode settings are not valid in SACD mode. You must complete a separate group of settings dedicated to SACD mode. Speaker settings To play multi-channel Super Audio CD data effectively, set the speaker parameters in SACD mode to suit your speakers and components. The speaker parameters enable you to select a speaker mode and adjust the speaker balance. , ENTER SET UP ■ Setting speaker mode Set the speaker mode according to your speaker size and setup. 1 Press SETUP. The unit displays "SPK MODE." 2 Press ENTER. The unit displays the current setting. 3 Press the cursor button l or h to change the setting. When you press the cursor button, the speaker mode setting (indicated on the display) changes as follows: Speaker mode chart Speaker mode MLTCH DIRECT 5-LRG 5-SML +SW MAIN-LRG +SW MAIN-LRG NON-C +SW NON-C Main speakers Center speaker Rear speakers Audio signals are output as recorded. Large Large Large Small Small Small Large Large Large Large Small Small None None Small Small Large Large Subwoofer None Used Used None Used None Selecting a speaker mode: Select a speaker mode to suit your speaker setup and performance. Speakers marked "Large" will output all signals, including a low range of 90Hz and lower. If you are using a large speaker with a large capacity for low-range frequencies (i.e., the woofer diameter is 16cm or more), select a mode for which the corresponding speaker is marked "Large." The low range on the "Small" speaker channels is output to the subwoofer or main speakers (marked "Large"). If you feel that low range playback is not sufficiently powerful, or if the sound clips, select a mode in which the corresponding speaker is marked "Small." 4 Press ENTER to confirm the selected mode. 5 Press SETUP. The unit displays the standard screen. ■ Adjusting the speaker balance If the volume level of each speaker varies, use the test tone to adjust the level so that all speakers sound at the same level as the main speakers. • The speaker balance cannot be adjusted if the speaker mode is set to MLTCH DIRECT. • If the speaker mode is changed, parameters set prior to the change will be initialized (assigned as initial values). 1 Press SETUP. 2 Press the cursor button l or h to select "SPK BALANCE."
