Roadside Emergencies Retighten the wheel lug nuts to the specified torque at 500 miles (800 km) of new vehicle operation and at intervals specified in the Maintenance Schedule and Record booklet. Also retighten to the specified torque at 500 miles (800 km) of operation after any wheel change or any time the lug nuts are loosened. RWARNING Failure to retighten wheel lug nuts at mileages specified could allow wheels to come off while the vehicle is in motion. The Fuel Pump Shut-off Switch If the engine cranks but does not start or if you have had a collision, the fuel pump shut-off switch may have been triggered. The shut-off switch is a device that stops the fuel pump when your vehicle has been involved in a substantial jolt.
