Parking Brake, Steering Wheel Adjustment Steering Wheel Adjustment Make any steering wheel adjustment before you start driving. Driving the vehicle with the parking brake applied can damage the rear brakes and axles. Instruments and Controls Adjusting the steering wheel position while driving may cause you to lose control of the vehicle and be seriously injured in a crash. RELEASE BUTTON Adjust the steering wheel only when the vehicle is stopped. 1. Push the lever under the steering column all the way down. 2. Move the steering wheel so it points toward your chest, not toward your face. Make sure you can see the instrument panel gauges and indicators. CONTINUED To release the parking brake, push and hold the release button on the side of the parking brake lever, pull the lever toward you slightly, then push the lever forward. The parking brake indicator on the instrument panel should go out when the parking brake is fully released with the engine running (see page 56 ). 69
