ADJUSTMENTS Brakes Under normal operation, the diaphragm extends into the reservoir as fluid level drops. If the fluid level is low and the diaphragm is not extended, a leak is likely and the diaphragm should be replaced. Always fill the reservoir as needed whenever the cover is loosened or removed to ensure proper diaphragm operation. Do not overfill. See page 60. The front brakes are hydraulic disc brakes. They're activated by squeezing the brake lever toward the handlebar. The rear brake is a hydraulic disc brake activated by the foot brake pedal. Both brakes are self-adjusting, but the following checks are recommended to keep the brake systems in good operating condition. Check more often if brakes are used heavily under normal operation. WARNING Overfilling the master cylinder will result in brake failure. Without room to expand, the excess fluid will cause the brakes to apply automatically, which could result is serious injury or death. Always maintain the fluid level between the MIN and MAX marks.
