FEATURES AND CONTROLS Manual Shift The engine can be started when the transmission is in neutral, or while in gear if the clutch is disengaged. Place the stop switch in the RUN position, then turn the key to ON. If starting while in neutral, the neutral indicator light should be on. If it isn't, disengage the clutch (squeeze the clutch lever fully) and shift the foot pedal to find neutral. See page 65. When the vehicle is in neutral, press the start button to start the engine. If starting the engine while in gear: 1. Apply the hand brake. 2. Squeeze the clutch lever fully to disengage the clutch. 3. Press the start button to start the engine. Release the start button immediately when the engine starts. 66

Whenthevehicleisinneutral,pressthestartbuttontostarttheengine.
Ifstartingtheenginewhileingear:
1. Applythehandbrake.
2. Squeezetheclutchleverfullytodisengagetheclutch.
3. Pressthestartbuttontostarttheengine. Releasethestartbuttonimmediatelywhenthe
enginestarts.
