Filling a Portable Fuel Container Checking ThingsUnder the Hood The following sections tell how to checkfluids, you lubricants and important underhood parts. I I 1 A CAUTION: Never fill a portable fuel container while in it is your vehicle. Static electricity discharge from the container can ignite the gasoline vapor. can You be badlyburned and your vehicle damaged this if occurs. To help avoidinjury to you and others: Dispense gasoline onlyinto approved containers. Do not filla container while it is inside a vehicle, ina vehicle's trunk, pickup bed or on any surface other than the ground. Bring the fill nozzle in contact with the inside of the fill opening before operating the nozzle. Contact shouldbe maintained until ther i n g is complete. Don't smoke while pumping gasoline. A CAUTION: An electric fan under the hood can up and start injure you even when the engine not running. is Keep hands, clothing tools awayfrom any and underhood electric fan. I A CAUTION: I Things that burn can get on hot engine parts and start a fire. These include liquids like gasoline, oil, coolant,brake fluid, windshield washer and other fluids, and plastic or rubber.
