The maximum amount of memory you can install in your MacBook Pro is 2 GB, using 1 GB DIMMs in both memory slots. Installing Additional Memory Installing memory involves removing and replacing your battery. The following procedure includes instructions for adding memory and replacing your battery. Step 1: Removing the Battery 1 Shut down your MacBook Pro. Disconnect the power adapter, Ethernet cable, and any other cords connected to the MacBook Pro to prevent damaging the computer. 2 Turn over the MacBook Pro and locate the release latches on either side of the battery.
