APPENDIX Care and Maintenance Simple sewing machine maintenance operations are described below. Cleaning the machine surface If the surface of the machine is dirty, lightly soak a cloth in neutral detergent, squeeze it out firmly, and then wipe the surface of the machine. After cleaning it once with a damp cloth, wipe it again with a dry cloth. Loosen the presser foot holder screw and d remove the presser foot holder(page 45), and then loosen the needle clamp screw and remove the needle (page 41). c a CAUTION ● Unplug the power supply cord before cleaning the machine. Otherwise, injuries or an electric shock may occur. b a Presser foot holder b Presser foot holder screw c Needle clamp screw Cleaning the race Sewing performance will suffer if dust collects in the bobbin case. Therefore, it should be cleaned periodically. Grasp both sides of the needle plate cover, and e then slide it toward you. Turn off the sewing machine. a Unplug the power supply cord from the power b supply jack on the right side of the sewing machine. a a Needle plate cover X The needle plate cover is removed.
