Figure 6-5. Removing the Fan Assembly Removing the Fan Assembly 1. Disconnect the fan assembly's wiring harness from the center of the system board, as shown in Figure 6-5. Do not pull the connector wires. 2. Clear the metal tabs in front of the assembly by gently pushing the top of the tab toward the outside of the unit and the bottom to the inside. 3. After releasing the tabs, gently rotate the bottom of the assembly towards the front of the switch. 4. Pull the assembly up and back until you can slide it forward off the metal slats attached to the back of the chassis. Installing a New Fan Assembly 1. Tilt the assembly slightly up and slide it onto the two metal slats protruding from the back of the chassis. 2. Removing the Fan Assembly
1.
Disconnect the fan assembly’s wiring harness from the center of the system
board, as shown in Figure 6-5. Do not pull the connector wires.
2.
Clear the metal tabs in front of the assembly by gently pushing the top of the tab
toward the outside of the unit and the bottom to the inside.
3.
After releasing the tabs, gently rotate the bottom of the assembly towards the
front of the switch.
4.
Pull the assembly up and back until you can slide it forward off the metal slats
attached to the back of the chassis.
Installing a New Fan Assembly
1.
Tilt the assembly slightly up and slide it onto the two metal slats protruding from
the back of the chassis.
2.
Move aside the power supply wiring harnesses, lower the assembly onto the
metal tabs protruding from the back of the power supply chassis.
