2 Database Edit A database is created on the USB HDD, etc., so that MP3/WAV files can be searched on the DN-HD2500. NOTE: MP3/WAV files stored on devices other than the one for which the database is being created can be played even while the database is being creating. In this case, however, resources are required to process the file playback operation, so the time required to create the database may increase substantially. Also, when a database is created on a device, the database is reset, so any playlists created for that device are deleted. • Setting the Database Edit mode At the top menu in the Utility mode, turn the PARAMETERS knob or JOG disc and select "Database Edit". 1 Press the knob again to enter. The "Database Edit" list is displayed. 2 • Creating databases Creating databases q At the top menu in the Utility mode, turn the PARAMETERS knob or JOG disc and 1 select "Create". Press the knob again to enter. w The unit is set to the mode for creating databases. Selecting the device q A list of the currently connected devices (with database) is displayed on the left side of the screen. w Turn the PARAMETERS knob or JOG disc 2 and select the device for which you want to create the database. Press the knob again to enter. NOTE: It is possible to create databases even for devices for which a database already exists. Doing so, however, creates a new database, so playlists created up to that point are deleted. A message asking whether you want to create the database or not pops up at the bottom left of the screen. • When "OK" is selected: 3 Creation of the database for the device set in step 2 starts. A progress bar is displayed, showing you the progress of the database creation operation. An indicator indicating that a database is being created is displayed even while playing MP3/WAV files. • When "Cancel" is selected: No database is created for the device set in step 2 and the screen returns to as it was in step 2. • Creating temporary databases Use this procedure to create a database searchable by file name only. This database can be created faster than a full database. Searching using ID3 Tag data is not possible. Creating temporary databases q At the top menu in the Utility mode, turn the PARAMETERS knob or JOG disc 1 and select "Temporary". Press the knob again to enter. w The unit is set to the mode for creating the temporary database. Selecting the device q A list of the currently connected devices is displayed on the left side of 2 the screen. w Turn the PARAMETERS knob or JOG disc and select the device for which you want to create a temporary database.
