Getting Started Connections Setup Playback Information Troubleshooting ENGLISH ENTER 89 1/3 RETURN 1/3 [PLAY MODE] [ui] [USB/AUX] ENTER 8, 9 RETURN About the button names in these explanations < > : Buttons on the main unit [ ] : Buttons on the remote control unit Button name only: Buttons on the main unit and remote control unit 24 Playing Music Files Playing MP3 or WMA Files Before Playing MP3 or WMA Files There are many music distribution sites on the Internet allowing you to download music files in MP3 or WMA (Windows Media® Audio) format. The music (files) downloaded from such sites can be stored on CD-R or CD-RW discs and played on the S-52. 1 Load a CD-R or CD-RW disc containing music files in the MP3 or WMA format into the CD slot (vpage 3). 2 Select the folder you want to play using or [ui], then press ENTER. "Windows Media" and "Windows" are registered trademarks or trademarks in the United States and other countries of Microsoft Corporation of the United States. Creating MP3 and WMA Files Compatible with the S-52 (CD-R/CD-RW) • Writing software format: "ISO9660 level 1". If the file is stored in a different format, it may not play properly. See the writing software's instructions. • The maximum number of files and folders Total number of folders and files: 1000 The maximum folders: 255 • Incompatible: Packet write, playlists. • Be sure to give the extension ".MP3" or ".WMA" to MP3 or WMA files. The files cannot be played if they have any other extensions. (Macintosh computer: Within 8 capital letters or numbers) b Y our recordings may be used for your personal enjoyment only, and may not be used for other purposes without the consent of the copyright holder as per copyright laws. It is not compatible with "MPEG-2 Audio Layer-3", "MPEG-2.5 Audio Layer-3", "MP1" or "MP2" standards. • The S-52 is compatible with ID3-Tag (Ver. 2 and 3) standards or META tags. 3 Select the file you want to play using or [ui], then press ENTER or 1/3. Playback starts. b Track, artist and album names are only displayed if they are stored on the disc. b Press ENTER during playback to change between displays of Artist display and Album display. Changing the Folder or File During Playback Use RETURN to display the list, then use , [ui] or 8 9 to select the folder or file. Copyright-protected files cannot be played. Note that depending on the software used for burning and other conditions, some files may not play or display correctly. NOTE The time may not be displayed properly if the search or pause operation is performed while playing files recorded with a variable bit rate.
