Chapter 2 Setup Connecting to the Network The product uses a modular connector specifically designed for the cash drawer. Do not connect the connector to an ordinary telephone line. For Ethernet Interface Connect the product to a network by a LAN cable via a hub. Connecting the Ethernet interface cable  When LAN cables are installed outdoors, make sure devices without proper surge protection are cushioned by being connected through devices that do have surge CAUTION protection.  Otherwise, the devices can be damaged by lightning.  Never attempt to connect the customer display cable, drawer kick-out cable, or a 2 standard telephone line cable to the Ethernet connector.
