Tools You need a small Phillips screwdriver to replace memory modules. Your convertible notebook uses memory modules called SO-DIMMs (Small Outline Dual Inline Memory Modules). The modules are available in various capacities and any module can be placed in any slot. Memory bay To add or replace memory modules: 1 Follow the guidelines under "Preventing static electricity discharge" on page 88. 2 Turn off your convertible notebook. 3 Make sure the LCD panel is in notebook mode, then close the LCD panel. For more information, see "Converting from notebook to tablet mode" on page 41. 4 Disconnect from the optional port replicator. 5 Disconnect the AC adapter, modem cable, and network cable, if they are connected to the convertible notebook. 6 Disconnect all peripheral devices connected to the convertible notebook and remove any PC cards. 7 Turn your convertible notebook over so the bottom is facing up, then remove the main and optional multibay batteries. Adding or replacing memory
modules
Your convertible notebook uses memory modules called
SO-DIMMs (Small Outline Dual Inline Memory Modules). The
modules are available in various capacities and any module can
be placed in any slot.
To add or replace memory modules:

Follow the guidelines under
“Preventing static electricity
discharge” on page 88

Turn off your convertible notebook.

Make sure the LCD panel is in notebook mode, then close
the LCD panel. For more information, see
“Converting
from notebook to tablet mode” on page 41
.

Disconnect from the optional port replicator.

Disconnect the AC adapter, modem cable, and network
cable, if they are connected to the convertible notebook.

Disconnect all peripheral devices connected to the
convertible notebook and remove any PC cards.
7
Turn your convertible notebook over so the bottom is
facing up, then remove the main and optional multibay
batteries. For more information, see
“Changing
batteries” on page 63
.
