switchName 2 switchName Displays or sets the switch name. Synopsis switchname [name] Description Use this command to display or set the switch name. All switches have a symbolic name that is primarily used for switch management. This name is shown in the Fabric OS CLI prompt, under each switch icon on the Fabric Web page, and in the output of various Fabric OS commands, such as fabricShow. Use this command with the name operand to assign a new switch name. Enter this command with no operand to display the current switch name. Changing the switch name causes a domain address format RSCN to be issued (refer to the FC-FLA specification for a description of RSCNs). Notes The execution of this command is subject to Admin Domain restrictions that may be in place. Refer to chapter 1, "Understanding Admin Domain Restrictions" and Appendix A, "Command Availability" for details. Operands This command has the following operand: name Specify a new name for the switch. name can include up to 15 characters, must begin with a letter, can consist of letters, digits, hyphens, and underscore characters, and no spaces. This operand is optional; if omitted, this command displays the current switch name.
