Firmware upgrade instructions IMPORTANT: HP recommends that users upgrade to Fabric OS 6.2.2f as soon as possible. Upgrading to Fabric OS 6.2.2f is allowed only from Fabric OS 6.1.x. For guidelines, see (page 6). NOTE: With the introduction of Fabric OS 6.1.1, certain features and functions were removed from Web Tools (resident in the firmware) and migrated to the Data Center Fabric Manager (DCFM) management application. This has been carried forward to Fabric OS 6.2.x. If you are not running DCFM on your fabric, HP recommends that before upgrading to Fabric OS 6.2.x or later, you review (page 31) and note what has changed in order to assess the impact to your fabric. To access the latest Fabric OS 6.2.2f firmware, configuration files, and MIB files, see the HP website: http://www.hp.com/support/downloads At the website: 1. Under Storage, select Storage Networking. 2. Select the link for the appropriate switch, select your product, and then select Cross operating system (BIOS, Firmware, Diagnostics, etc.) 3. Select Firmware. 4. Select V6.x Firmware for HP StorageWorks B-series FC Switches for Fabric OS 6.2.2f: • To download the firmware, select Download. • To read the release notes, select the Release Notes tab. To verify that the firmware download is complete, enter the firmwareDownloadStatus command on the switch, verify that the process is complete, and then proceed to the next switch. Scalability For details on supported scalability, see the HP StorageWorks SAN Design Reference Guide, available on the HP website: http://www.hp.com FICON support The HP StorageWorks DC04 SAN Director is not supported for FICON Cascading in interopmode 2 or 3 for use in mixed fabrics with M-EOS platforms. Other important notes and recommendations This section contains additional information that you should consider before you use this Fabric OS release. Virtual Fabrics • On VF-capable platforms, the VF feature must be enabled after upgrading to Fabric OS 6.2.x in order to utilize the related capabilities, including Logical Switches and Logical Fabrics. • When creating Logical Fabrics that include switches that are not VF-capable, it is possible to have two Logical Switches with different FIDs in the same fabric. Be sure to verify that the FIDs match for all switches in the same Logical Fabric. • The aptpolicy can be configured per logical switch. The Administrator Guide indicates it is a chassis-level setting. Other important notes and recommendations 23
