Primary hard drive NOTE: The hard drive spare part kit does not include a hard drive bracket or hard drive connector cable. Description Spare part number Hard drive (does not include hard drive bracket or and hard drive cable): 1-TB, 5400-rpm 603788-001 750-GB, 7200-rpm 633252-001 640-GB, 7200-rpm 621046-001 500-GB, 7200-rpm 634921-001 320-GB, 7200-rpm 641672-001 and 627731-001 Solid-state drive: 300-GB solid-state drive 603782-001 160-GB solid-state drive 603781-001 Hard Drive Hardware Kit (includes primary hard drive bracket and cable and secondary hard drive 603772-001 bracket and cable) Before removing the primary hard drive, follow these steps: 1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer. 3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer. 4. Remove the battery (see Battery on page 37). 5. Remove the memory module compartment cover (see Memory module on page 42). 6. Remove the hard drive cover (see Primary hard drive on page 38). 38 Chapter 4 Removal and replacement procedures

Before removing the primary hard drive, follow these steps:
1.
Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the
computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2.
Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3.
Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet
and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
4.
