3 Pedestal to Rack Conversion The procedures for converting your tower system to a rack system are as follows: 1. Power down the server and remove all cables. 2. Remove the pedestal kit top. 3. Remove the pedestal kit sides. 4. Remove the bezel cover. 5. Remove the caster wheels. 6. Install the server into the rack. TIP: Removal of the pedestal kit is best performed on a raised surface, as access to the bottom of the server is required to complete the procedure. Required Tools The tool required for disassembling the pedestal kit is: • Standard (flat head) screwdriver See the Rack System /E User's Manual at: http://www.hp.com under Enterprise Rack & Power Products, or other documentation that came with your rack kit for rack installation tool requirements. Powering Down the Server and Removing Cables Instructions for powering down the server, including removing cables, are located in the server users' guide. Removing the Pedestal Top Follow these steps to remove the pedestal top. 1. Loosen the two screws in the server rear upper right and left corners which hold the top in place. See Figure 3-1 2. Slide the top back by pulling on the indented grips in the top. See Figure 3-1 3. Once the top has moved about 1/4 inch it can be lifted off. 16 Pedestal to Rack Conversion
