System Board Switches Your PC Workstation's system board switches may look like either of the examples documented here. UP=OFF DOWN=ON 3 Technical Information System Connectors and Switches OPEN=OFF CLOSED=ON Switches 2 through 5 are used for processor settings (see page 22) and should be changed if the processor supplied with the PC Workstation is replaced with a faster one. Switches 6 to 10 are used as shown in the following table: Switch Use Switch to: 1 - RESERVED Do not use (OFF - DEFAULT) 6 - CLEAR CMOS Retain or clear CMOS memory: • OFF to retain CMOS memory - DEFAULT • ON to clear CMOS memory. 7 - CLEAR PASSWORD Enable or clear (and disable) User and System Administrator Passwords stored in EEPROM: • OFF to enable passwords - DEFAULT • ON to clear passwords. 8 - KEYBOARD POWER ON Enable or disable power on using the keyboard: • OFF to disable keyboard power on • ON to enable keyboard power on - DEFAULT. 9 - RESERVED Do not use (ON - DEFAULT) 10 - BIOS RECOVERY • OFF to enable normal mode - DEFAULT. • ON to enable recovery mode.
