Preferred Path Physical Planning Considerations 5 The preferred path option allows a user to specify and configure one or more ISL data paths between multiple directors or fabric switches in a fabric. At each fabric element, a preferred path consists of a source port on the director or switch being configured, an exit port on the director or switch, and the Domain_ID of the destination director or switch. Each participating director or switch must be configured as part of a desired path. The following rules apply when configuring a preferred path: • The switch Domain_ID must be set to Insistent. • Domain_IDs range between 1 through 31. • Source and exit port numbers are limited to the range of ports available on the director or switch. • For each source port, only one path is defined to each destination Domain_ID.
