Page 11 highlights

For example, the following figure shows the default jumper setting for a 1 GB SCSI hard disk drive. SCSI default address 0 (no jumper installed) Similarly, the CD-ROM drive D2992A is delivered preconfigured with SCSI address 2. Make sure that other SCSI devices do not have the same address number. Refer to the manual provided with the SCSI device for information on selecting another SCSI address number. When using two or more SCSI devices simultaneously, you can rearrange their addresses to improve their performance. A higher address gives a device a higher priority, but a slow device at a high address can slow all other SCSI devices. When installing additional SCSI devices, pay attention to their speed and address relative to other devices on the bus. The optional CD-ROM is slower than a hard disk, but can automatically disconnect when a faster SCSI device needs to use the bus. Software Installation SCSI devices are not auto-detected during the Power-On-Self-Test and MUST be configured in DOS. You MUST exit Windows and enter MS-DOS, do not use the MS-DOS prompt in Windows. When in MS-DOS, carry out the following: 1. Change to the C:\AMDSCSI subdirectory. 2. Type AMINSTALL, then press [ENTER]. 3. Follow the instructions on the screen. (On models without a hard disk and non-DOS models, SCSI drivers and utilities are supplied on diskette.) SCSI drivers for non-DOS operating systems and NetWare are included in the preloaded software. Theses drivers can be obtained by using the Master Diskette Creation Utility in the HPUtils Group in Windows. (Refer to chapter 1 in the Getting Started manual for details.) Check with your dealer for information on how to obtain SCO SCSI drivers. HP Vectra XU PC - Setting Up Installing Accessories • 11
