You must install the Direct CD and Easy CD Creator applications manually from the Applications CD-ROM (provided with the workstation or as an accessory kit) before you can use the write/re-write functionality of the drive. The installation of these two software applications must be performed in the following manner: 1. Put the Applications CD-ROM into the CD drive. 2. Choose the language and click on Easy CD Creator when the installation window appears. Next, follow the instructions to install this application. 3. Select Exit and remove the Applications CD from the drive when the installation wizard returns. Next, choose Yes to restart your system. 4. Repeat steps 1 and 2 above, but this time select Direct CD as the application to install. Note that this sequence of steps should be repeat only when the system has been restarted and you are logged in. 5. Choose Exit, remove the CD and select Yes to restart the system once the installation wizard returns. 6. Start using the full functionality of the CD-RW drive when the system has been restarted the second time. If you do not install these two software packages, you can only use the CD-RW drive's read functionality. 36 Chapter 1
