Honeywell HYDRAPURE® AIR WASHER MODELS HAW-500, HAW-501 SERIES ii IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS READ AND SAVE THESE SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING THIS AIR WASHER This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance. When using electrical appliances, basic precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock and injury to persons, including the following: 1. Always place this air washer on a firm, flat and level surface. This air washer may not work properly on an uneven surface. 2. Place this air washer in an area where it is not accessible to children. 3. Do not place the air washer near any heat sources such as stoves, radiators, and heaters. 4. Do not use the air washer outdoors. 5. Before using the air washer, check the power cord for any signs of damage. If the cord is found to be damaged, DO NOT USE and return the air washer to the manufacturer under the warranty agreement for repair. 6. This air washer is for use on 120 volts. The cord has a grounded plug. An adapter is available at retail (not included) for connecting three-blade grounding-type plugs to two-slot receptacles. The green grounding lug extending from the adapter must be connected to a permanent ground such as a properly grounded outlet box. The adapter should not be used if a three-slot grounded receptacle is available. 7. To disconnect the air washer, first turn controls to the OFF position, then grip the plug and pull it from the wall outlet. Never pull by the cord. 8. A loose fit between the AC outle (receptacle) and plug may cause overheating and distortion of the plug. Contact a qualified e ectrician to replace a loose or worn outlet. 9. The air washer should always be unplugged and emptied when not in operation or while being serviced or cleaned. 10. Never tilt or attempt to move the air washer while it is operating or filled with water. UNPLUG the air washer before moving. 11. This air washer requires regular cleaning. Refer to the CLEANING instructions provided. Never clean the air washer in any manner other than as instructed in this manual. 12. Turn the air washer OFF if you notice moisture on the inside of your windows. For proper humidity reading use a hygrometer, which is available in many hardware and department stores, or by ordering one from the manufacturer. As condition of purchase the purchaser assumes responsibility for the correct use and care of this Kaz product according to these user instructions.
