Step 4B: Hanging the Fan on an 81/2-foot and Higher Ceiling CAUTION: Your fan may weigh up to 50 pounds. All of the following steps must be followed in order to ensure a secure mounting. Perform steps A through D with motor resting in liner for protection. A. Remove short, stepped, black motor adapter from carton. It is the one witji the two internally threaded holes. Back out set screw with alien wrench supplied with fan. Slide adapter over the wires, putting the end with the small hole on first. Grasp the switch housing firmly and thread adapter onto motor shaft. Be certain adapter is all the way down to the step on the shaft. Use pliers to be sure adapter is tight. YOU MUST BE CERTAIN TO TIGHTEN THE SET SCREW HOLDING THIS ADAPTER ONTO THE FAN. Use the set screw Wrench provided. See Fig. 9. Remove the 7-inch pipe from the carton. Screw it into the hole into the top end of the adapter. Use pliers to tighten the pipe into the adapter. BE CERTAIN TO TIGHTEN THE SET SCREW IN THE ADAPTER TO HOLD THIS PIPE FIRMLY. See Fig. 9. • Start a 6-32 screw (provided) in the lower hole of each canopy. Place the canopy without the Hunter nameplate over the pipe first, with the large opening toward the motor. Then put the second canopy over the pipe with the large opening away from the motor. Do not tighten the canopy screws at this time. See Fig. 9. D. Loosen the set screw in the hanger bracket. Screw the bracket onto the hanger pipe. Use pliers, to tighten securely. YOU MUST BE CERTAIN TO TIGHTEN THE SET SCREW IN THE HANGER BRACKET VERY SECURELY. See Fig. 9. E. Be sure the pin is centered in the rubber bushing. See Fig. 10. F. Lift the fan by the motor housing, hook the hanger bracket onto the pin in the rubber bushing. MAKE SURE BOTH ENDS OF THE PIN ARE OUTSIDE THE HANGER BRACKET. See Fig. 10. CAUTION: Failure to perform these steps completely and in correct order may result in the fan falling. certain

is

the
way
down
to
the
step

shaft.
Use
pliers
to
be
sure
adapter
is
tight.
YOU
MUST
BE
CERTAIN
TO
TIGHTEN
THE
SET
SCREW
HOLDING
THIS
ADAPTER
ONTO
THE
FAN.
Use
the
set
screw
Wrench
provided.

Remove
the
7
-inch
pipe
from
the
carton.
Screw
it
into
the
hole
into
the
top
end
of
the
adapter.
Use
pliers
to
tighten
the
pipe
into
the
adapter.
BE
CERTAIN
TO
TIGHTEN
THE
SET
SCREW
IN
THE
ADAPTER
TO
HOLD
THIS
PIPE
FIRMLY.

Start
a

screw
(provided)
in
the
lower
hole
of
each
canopy.
Place
the
canopy
without
the
Hunter
nameplate
over
the
pipe
first,
with
the
large
opening
toward
the
motor.
Then
put
the
second
canopy
over
the
pipe
with
the
large
opening
away
from
the
motor.
Do
not
tighten
the
canopy
screws
at
this
time.

screw

the
hanger
bracket.
Screw
the
bracket
onto
the
hanger
pipe.
Use
pliers,
to
tighten
securely.
YOU
MUST

CERTAIN
TO

BRACKET
VERY
SECURELY.
