Step 5: Wiring instructions and Canopy Installation Before you do the final wiring, you should decide how you want to control your fan-with a pull cord, a wall switch or a speed control. At this point, you should also decide if you want to add a light adapter kit. Separate wiring instructions for Hunter accessories are included in accessory packages. All wiring must conform to national and local codes which may city by locale. NOTE: Use of any accessory not supplied by Hunter may void your Warraih. A. Connect black electrical supply lead to the black motor lead and the black with white stripe motor lead (see note). Connect the white electrical supply lead to the white motor lead. Connect ground wire to green screw on side of hanger bracket. See-Fig. 11A. NOTE: If a separate wall switch will be used to control a lighting accessory, connect black wire with white stripe to switch lead. Follow wiring instructions included with the accessory. See Fig. 1113. NOTE: If a light kit is not employed, cap the black with white stripe motor lead with a Listed wire connector. Do not connect it to any wire. A II FIGURE 11A FIGURE 11B B. Using approved connectors, secure them firmly onto all wire connections. CAUTION: No bare wire should be visible after making connection. C Neatly place assembled wiring around hanger bracket assembly so it is out of the way. D. CANOPY INSTALLATION: Pull the upper canopy up'and hold it against the ceiling. Tighten the screw in the canopy. Lift the second canopy up so that its lower edge is even with the top of the motor housing. Tighten the screw in the canopy. See Fig. 12. 13
