Operator Panel Message LOADING PROGRAM INTO FLASH NON VOLATILE MEMORY FAILED Display Messages Table 3. Message List Explanation Corrective Action Status message: the printer has deleted the previous emulation program from flash memory and is loading the new program into flash memory. No action required. Large emulations reduce the amount of space available for saving configurations, which means that sometimes fewer than 8 configurations can be saved. If this message appears when saving a configuration, it means the printer is out of memory. Previously saved configurations will still be available, but the one that was "saved" when the message appeared is not in memory. If this message appears at power-up, it means the flash memory is defective. 1. Clear NVRAM (page 237). 2. Power off and unplug the printer. Remove the paper guide assembly or pedestal top cover. 3. Make sure the printer has at least 8MB of flash memory. 4. Replace the coax/twinax board and adapter. 5. Plug in and power on the printer. If the message appears at power-up, clear NVRAM (page 237), then replace the flash memory. After replacing the memory, DO NOT make the printer READY, but go immediately to the next step. 6. Download the latest code from IBM First (page 231). 7. Power on the printer in download mode and load flash memory (page 238). 8. If the message appears while saving a configuration, the printer is out of memory and will not save that or subsequent configurations. (Previously saved configurations are still okay.) 9. If the message appears after replacing or increasing memory, replace the controller board (page 319). After replacing the controller board, DO NOT make the printer READY, but proceed immediately to the next step. 10. Download and install the latest code from IBM First (page 231). 11. Power on the printer in download mode, and load flash memory (page 238). If you encounter the failure after replacing the controller board, reinstall the original controller board and contact your DDS and Second Level Support. 163
