Motor Assembly, Paper Feed Motor Assembly, Paper Feed Removal 1. Prepare the printer for maintenance (page 313). 2. Cabinet Model: Remove the paper guide assembly (page 348). Pedestal Model: Remove the top cover assembly (page 327). 3. Remove the timing belt cover by squeezing the top and bottom to release the plastic tabs from the slots in the side plate (page 400, Figure 39). 4. Model 6500-v20 only: take note of how the heat sink is installed on the paper feed motor. Remove and retain the screws securing the heat sink to the paper feed motor. Remove the heat sink and retain it for installation on the new paper feed motor. 5. Loosen the paper feed motor mount screws (page 416, Figure 46, item 10). 6. Trace the paper feed motor cables back to the controller board, releasing it from tie wraps. (See the cable routing diagrams on page 282 and page 283.) 7. Disconnect connector P107 from the controller board and remove the paper feed motor connector from connector P107. (See page 323.) NOTE: Some paper feed motors are mounted with nuts and bolts; other motors have threaded flanges, eliminating the need for nuts. 8. Remove the motor mount bolts (and nuts, if present). 9. Remove the paper feed motor assembly. 342

Removal

Prepare the printer for maintenance (page 313).

Cabinet Model: Remove the paper guide assembly (page 348).

Pedestal Model: Remove the top cover assembly (page 327).

Remove the timing belt cover by squeezing the top and bottom to release the plastic tabs from the slots in the side plate

(page 400, Figure 39).

Model 6500-v20 only: take note of how the heat sink is installed on the paper feed motor. Remove and retain the screws

securing the heat sink to the paper feed motor. Remove the heat sink and retain it for installation on the new paper feed

motor.

Loosen the paper feed motor mount screws (page 416, Figure 46, item 10).

Trace the paper feed motor cables back to the controller board, releasing it from tie wraps. (See the cable routing diagrams

on page 282 and page 283.)

Disconnect connector P107 from the controller board and remove the paper feed motor connector from connector P107.
