Hot-swap hard disk drive cage Before you begin: v Read "Safety information" on page 129 v Review the information in "System reliability considerations" on page 33 To remove the hot-swap hard disk drive cage, complete the following steps: 1. Turn off the server, if it is on. 2. Unplug the server, and disconnect all external cables. 3. Remove the front bezel. See "Removing the bezel" on page 37 4. Remove the side cover. See "Removing the side cover" on page 36 5. Remove the frame-support bracket. See "Removing and installing the support bracket" on page 38 6. Remove any hard disk drives or drive fillers from the drives. 7. Disconnect the hard disk drive cables that connect to the system board. 8. Remove the screw from the front of the hard disk drive cage. 9. Move the cage slightly in and up until it is free of the chassis and lift it out of the server. To replace the hard disk drive cage, reverse the steps. Chapter 5. Field replaceable units 79

To
remove
the
hot-swap
hard
disk
drive
cage,
complete
the
following
steps:
1.
Turn
off
the
server,
if
it
is
on.
2.
Unplug
the
server,
and
disconnect
all
external
cables.
3.
Remove
the
front
bezel.

4.
Remove
the
side
cover.

5.
Remove
the

6.
Remove
any
hard
disk
drives

drive

from
the
drives.
7.
Disconnect
the
hard
disk
drive
cables
that
connect
to
the
system
board.
8.
Remove
the

from
the

the
hard
disk
drive
cage.
9.
Move
the
cage
slightly
in
and
up
until
it
is
free
of
the
chassis
and
lift
it
out
of
the
server.
To
replace
the
hard
disk
drive
cage,
reverse
the
steps.
