Hot-swap backplane Before you begin: v Read "Safety information" on page 129 v Review the information in "System reliability considerations" on page 33 To remove the hot-swap backplane, complete the following steps: 1. Turn off the server, if it is on. 2. Unplug the server, and disconnect the power cord; then, disconnect all external cables. 3. Remove the front bezel. See "Removing the bezel" on page 37. 4. Remove the side cover. See "Removing the side cover" on page 36 5. Remove the frame-support bracket. See "Removing and installing the support bracket" on page 38 6. Remove any hard disk drives or drive fillers from the drives. 7. Disconnect the hard disk drive cables that connect to the system board and the backplane. 8. Press down on the drive cage release latch and swing the drive cage out. 9. Remove the screws securing the hot-swap backplane to the drive cage. To
remove
the
hot-swap
backplane,
complete
the
following
steps:
1.
Turn
off
the
server,
if
it
is
on.
2.
Unplug
the
server,
and
disconnect
the
power
cord;
then,
disconnect
all
external
cables.
3.
Remove
the
front
bezel.
See
“Removing
the
bezel”
on
page
37.
4.
Remove
the
side
cover.
See
“Removing
the
side
cover”
on
page
36
5.
Remove
the
frame-support
bracket.
See
“Removing
and
installing
the
support
bracket”
on
page
38
6.
Remove
any
hard
disk
drives
or
drive
fillers
from
the
drives.
7.
Disconnect
the
hard
disk
drive
cables
that
connect
to
the
system
board
and
the
backplane.
8.
Press
down
on
the
drive
cage
release
latch
and
swing
the
drive
cage
out.
9.
Remove
the
screws
securing
the
hot-swap
backplane
to
the
drive
cage.
To
replace
the
hot-swap
backplane,
reverse
the
steps.
