Starting a command-line Telnet connection, Establishing a serial connection

Page 44 highlights

Starting a command-line Telnet connection Note: If there is no Telnet or SOL traffic within the timeout interval specified in the management module, the Telnet session and any SOL session associated with this Telnet session will terminate. See the BladeCenter Management Module Command-Line Interface Reference Guide for information about configuring the Telnet session timeout value. To log on to the management module using Telnet, complete the following steps: 1. Open a command-line window on the network-management workstation, type telnet 192.168.70.125, and press Enter. The IP address 192.168.70.125 is the default IP address of the management module; if a new IP address has been assigned to the management module, use that one instead. You can also substitute a valid host name instead of using an IP address. A command-prompt window opens. 2. At the login prompt, type the management-module user ID. At the password prompt, type the management-module password. The user ID and password are case sensitive and are the same as those that are used for management-module Web access. The default management-module user name is USERID and the default password is PASSW0RD (note the number zero, not the letter O, in PASSW0RD). A CLI command prompt is displayed. You can now enter commands for the management module. Establishing a serial connection After connecting a serial cable from the advanced management module to the client computer, complete the following steps: 1. Open a terminal session on the client computer, and make sure that the serial port settings for the client computer match the settings for the serial port on the advanced management module. The default advanced management-module serial port settings are as follows: v Baud rate: 57600 v Parity: no parity v Stop bits: 1 2. The CLI command prompt is displayed. You can now enter commands for the management module. 38 BladeCenter: Serial over LAN Setup Guide

Baud rate: 57600
v
Parity: no parity
v
Stop bits: 1
2.
At the login prompt, type the management-module user ID. At the password
