2 BEFORE USING Panel description DDFront, top and side panels Antenna Connector [Emer] Rotary Selector [PTT] Speaker [Sub PTT] [Side 1] [Side 2] [Address] [Call History] [VOL] Status indicator Multiconnector Microphone Function display [FUNC] [CLR/Lock] [▲]/[▼] DDMulti-connector Connects to an optional speaker microphone or headset. LLTurn OFF the transceiver before attaching or detaching the microphone. CAUTION: DO NOT use the transceiver without the connector cover or optional equipment attached. The transceiver meets IP67 requirements for dusttight and waterproof protection only when the connector cover or the optional speaker microphone is attached. See page 7-4 for the usable speaker microphones. 3 4 1 2 DDStatus indicator ••Lights red: Transmitting. ••Lights green: Receiving or squelch is open. ••Lights yellow: Receiving and transmitting in the Full-Duplex mode. CAUTION: Firmly attach to the Multi connector, but do not overtighten. A loose connection will allow water intrusion into the connector. Over-tightening the connection can damage the transceiver. DDAbout the assignable key functions Functions described on page 5-10 may be assigned to the [Sub PTT], [Side 1], and [Side 2] keys, depending on a presetting. Hold down or push these keys to use the assigned functions. You can also assign the functions in the Detailed Set mode (p. 6-5). 2-2
