Lenovo IdeaPad S100 Hardware Maintenance Manual System board Important notices for handling the system board: When handling the system board, bear the following in mind. • Be careful not to drop the system board on a bench top that has a hard surface, such as metal, wood, or composite. • Avoid rough handling of any kind. • In the whole process, make sure not to drop or stack the system board. • If you put a system board down, make sure to put it only on a padded surface such as an ESD mat or conductive corrugated material. 2. Remove the battery pack and measure the voltage between battery terminals 1 (+) and 7 (-). See the following figure:	24
3. If the voltage is less than +11.0 V DC, the battery pack has been discharged.	24
4. If the voltage is more than +11.0 V DC, measure the resistance between battery terminals 5 and 7. The resistance must be 4 to 30 KΩ.	24

Removing and replacing an FRU	34
1. Do not attempt to service any computer unless you have been trained and certified. An untrained person runs the risk of damaging parts.	34
2. Before replacing any FRU, review “FRU replacement notices” on page 29.	34
3. Begin by removing any FRUs that have to be removed before the failing FRU. Any of such FRUs are listed at the top of the page. Remove them in the order in which they are listed.	34
4. Follow the correct sequence in the steps to remove the FRU, as given in the figures by the numbers in square callouts.	34
5. When turning a screw to replace an FRU, turn it in the direction as given by the arrow in the figure.	34
6. When removing the FRU, move it in the direction as given by the arrow in the figure.	34
7. To put the new FRU in place, reverse the removal procedures and follow any of the notes that pertain to replacement. For information about connecting and arranging internal cables, see “Locations” on page 48.	34
8. When replacing an FRU, use the correct screw as shown in the procedures.	34
