To increase range and coverage, you can either reduce obstructions, increase power, or use UHF radio instead of VHF radio. UHF radios provide greater coverage in industrial and commercial buildings. VHF is designed for outdoor or smaller or wood structures. Increasing power provides greater signal range and increased penetration through obstructions. Refer to Talking and Monitoring on page 33. Make sure the PTT button is completely pressed when transmitting. Confirm that the radios have the same Channel, Frequency, Interference Eliminator Code and Scramble Code settings.
