% Night Vision g Color Sketch i Miniature Effect % 178 Use under conditions of darkness to record monochrome images at high ISO sensitivities (with some noise in the form of randomly-spaced bright pixels, fog, or lines). Manual focus can be used if the camera is unable to focus using autofocus. The built-in flash turns off; use of a tripod is recommended to reduce blur. During viewfinder photography, the built-in AFassist illuminator will light to assist the focus operation; to disable the illuminator, select Off for Custom Setting a7 (Built-in AF-assist illuminator, 0 233). The camera detects and colors outlines for a color sketch effect. Movies shot in this mode play back like a slide show made up of a series of stills. The effect can be chosen during live view (0 180); note that the display refresh rate drops when live view is in effect and that the frame rate drops in continuous release modes. Autofocus is not available during movie recording. Distant subjects appear as miniatures. Miniature effect movies play back at high speed, compressing 30 to 45 minutes of footage shot at 1920 × 1080/30p into a movie that plays back in about 3 minutes. The effect can be chosen during live view (0 181); note that the display refresh rate drops when live view is in effect and that the frame rate drops in continuous release modes. Sound is not recorded with movies; autofocus is not available during movie recording. The built-in flash and AF-assist illuminator turn off; use of a tripod is recommended when lighting is poor.
