Battery Info G button ➜ B setup menu View information on the battery currently inserted in the camera. Item Charge No. of shots Battery age Description The current battery level expressed as a percentage. The number of times the shutter has been released with the current battery since the battery was last charged. Note that the camera may sometimes release the shutter without recording a photograph, for example when measuring preset white balance. A five-level display showing battery age. 0 (k) indicates that battery performance is unimpaired, 4 (l) that the battery has reached the end of its charging life and should be replaced. Note that batteries charged at temperatures under about 5 °C (41 °F) may show a temporary drop in charging life; the battery age display will however return to normal once the battery has been recharged at a temperature of about 20 °C (68 °F) or higher. A The MB-D15 Battery Pack The display for the MB-D15 battery pack is shown at right. If AA batteries are used, the battery level will be shown by a battery level icon; other items will not be displayed. Image Comment G button ➜ B setup menu Add a comment to new photographs as they are taken. Comments can be viewed as metadata in ViewNX 2 (supplied) or Capture NX 2 (available separately; 0 309). The comment is also visible on the shooting data page in the photo information display (0 190). The following options are available: • Input comment: Input a comment as described on page 111. Comments can be up to 36 characters long. • Attach comment: Select this option to attach the comment to all subsequent photographs. Attach comment can be turned on and off by highlighting it and pressing 2. After choosing the desired setting, press J to exit. U 266
